Rousing, 6,400 Persons in Biak Papua Perform Tifa Wor Dance

goodmorningpapua.com – The World Record Museum of Indonesia (MURI) awarded 6,400 musicians for the Wor dance band, at Biak Numfor Regency, Papua. This activity is a world record for 2022. A Director of of Operations for  MURI, Yusuf Ngadri, said the award was handed over to Biak Regent Herry Ario Naap as the initiator.

“We handed over the world record-breaking MURI charter for thousands of Tifa musicians  coinciding with the celebration of the world’s traditional day,” said Yusuf Ngadri in Biak, Tuesday (9/8/2022). He hoped that the breaking of the MURI record for Tifa musicians would become history for the residents and ranks of the Biak Numfor Regency Government in order to enliven the 77th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence and the day of the world’s indigenous peoples.

“MURI witnessed firsthand the record-breaking beating of the Wor dance tifa which took place very lively, followed by all elements of Biak Numfor residents,” he said.

Meanwhile, Regent Herry Ario Naap said that playing tifa is one of the cultures of the Biak indigenous people that must be preserved sustainably. “The young generation of Biak must maintain the tradition of beating the drums because it is a form of our love to preserve the local traditional culture,” he said.

The attraction of beating the Wordilepas Tifa dance, Regent Herry Naap took a start at the Cenderawasih field, Jalan Pramuka, Imam Bonjol and finishing at the hangar field at the Manuhua Air Base.
