Nagita Slavina, an Icon of Papuan PON XX, and Know What the Cultural Appropriation is…

goodmorningpapua.com – The topic of cultural appropriation became a hot discussion on social media after Nagita Slavina was mentioned as being appointed as the Ambassador of Pon XX of Papua. This issue started from a comedian Arie Kriting who argued that the Papuan women should be represented directly by Papuan women. “The appointment of Nagita Slavina as a PON XX of Papua Ambassador can indeed encourage Cultural Appropriation. Papuan women should be represented directly by Papuan women,” Arie wrote through his an Instagram account.

Meanwhile, presenter Rafi Ahmad also spoke about the commotion. Raffi emphasized that he and Nagita Slavina were not ambassadors as previously criticized by Komika Arie Keriting.

“We are not ambassadors, we are icons. Maybe there is a missed communication. We are icons, the ambassador is Boaz Solossa,” said Raffi when met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, Thursday (3/6/2021).
