goodmorningpapua.com – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is considered to have succeeded in carrying out development in various sectors in Papua, ranging from infrastructure, health to education.
As stated by Papuan youth who are members of the Young Eskponen Papua (EMP), Jokowi’s success in developing the Papua and West Papua Provinces must be continued and continuously improved.
“We as native Papuans see that development in Papua is now growing rapidly in the era of President Jokowi’s leadership. Pak Jokowi’s success must be continued,” said a Chair of the EMP of East Java Province, Nendy Gire.
Nendy said this when the EMP of East Java Province held a public discussion with the theme ‘Encouraging Sustainable Development for the Advancement of Papua’ at the Grand Darmo Suite Hotel, Surabaya City, East Java.
Nendy stated, to support the development of human resource capacity, as many as 179 schools and religious institutions as well as state universities (PTN) have been built in Papua during the Jokowi administration.
In addition, around 1000 more Papuan students graduated from various universities at home and abroad, thanks to affirmation scholarships during the Jokowi administration.
Around 2021, 1000 Papuan youths have been recruited to join State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN). This is evidence of Jokowi’s efforts to improve the welfare of the Papuan people.
Jokowi has also made Presidential Instruction Number 09 of 2020 concerning the Acceleration of Welfare in Papua and West Papua, as a form of the government’s seriousness towards development in various sectors in Papua.
“There are things that can be debated. But regarding development in Papua, both in terms of physical and non-physical, it is almost difficult to deny considering the large amount of data related to the evidence of development in Papua today,” said Nendy in the discussion led by Samri Abdullah.
A Chairman of the EMP, Rahman Patur, added that the acceleration of infrastructure development in the Jokowi era was considered successful in encouraging regional economic growth. This is because the infrastructure built makes the community’s economy more active. Adequate infrastructure can reduce travel time, thereby speeding up logistics routes.
Jokowi has carried out infrastructure development in Bumi Cenderawasih, including the construction of the Trans Papua road, the construction of an airport, a port to the Youtefa Bridge, the Sota Cross-Border Post (PLBN) in Merauke Regency and so on.
According to Rahman, in terms of budgetary support, the government has also disbursed a budget of hundreds of trillions to support development needs in Papua.
Jokowi has come to Papua dozens of times to ensure that development in Papua runs effectively and optimally. Rahman hopes that development in Papua will continue in order to realize the welfare of the Papuan people.
“As a Papuan son, I thank Pak Jokowi who has made many concrete works for development on the Earth of Cendrawasih. The Papuan people appreciate this,” said Rahman.
Meanwhile, a public policy observer, Sutriyadi, said that Jokowi’s development approach, which relies on the slogan “Building Indonesia from the Edge,” has succeeded in accelerating development in various regions, including Papua.
Sutriyadi praised Jokowi’s leadership character who always absorbs aspirations and is sensitive to various issues that develop in society.
