goodmorningpapua.com – A Regent of Puncak, Willem Wandik, SE. M.Si, admitted that he was happy to be able to do real things for the progress of the region in his two leadership periods amid the Covid-19 pandemic wave.
One example is the construction of a PLTMH electricity in Puncak Regency, so that people can enjoy electricity for 1 x 24 hours. Likewise the problem of transportation to reduce the price of basic commodities in Puncak Regency
“We create jobs through regional companies, PLTMH and wholesalers, aircraft, accepting employees. This is extraordinary,” said Willem Wandik after the 2023 Puncak Regency RAPBD session and the Non-APBD Reperda during the second session at the Grang Moza Hotel, Timika on Thursday 8 December 2022.
The Regent shared his 9 years of leadership experience in Puncak Regency. But when he entered his second term, his leadership was faced with the big challenge of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This second period I have a strong desire to develop the region, but I was less fortunate. In 2018 it was inaugurated, it was about to go ahead, we entered Covid-19, as a result there was a reduction in funds, and from 2021 to 2022, conditions of extraordinary security escalation. We can’t do anything,” he said.
This condition, he continued, was complicated by the extraordinary geography of Puncak Regency, due to the problem of the main means of transportation which only use small-bodied aircraft with a load of 1.3 tons. Not to mention the security problems that continue to occur in Puncak.
“Well, friends from other regions can fly by air, land and sea, even the area is safe, so they enjoy development. However, if we are only in Puncak by air, even security is also very influential, but we can do something from nothing to exist. That makes me happy,” he said.
The Puncak government has purchased the Carebouw aircraft so that it can reduce the prices of nine basic commodities. “The prices for the nine basic commodities were initially expensive, but with subsidies, including opening wholesalers at the central point, buying three grand caravan planes, the prices of basic necessities have finally been reduced,” said Willem Wandik.
At the end of his term of office, the Regent stated that he would focus the 2023 APBD on a number of physical activities that had not been completed during his term of office. For example the official residence of the regent and deputy regent.
Not only that, the Regional Secretariat’s housing, as well as student dormitories in the Study Cities of Manado and Jayapura were the targets of the 2023 program including the Sinak Lapter and the construction of a prayer house site.
