Wempi Wetipo, an Papuan Son Elected as a Deputy Minister of Home Affairs of Indonesia Maju Cabinet

goodmorningpapua.com – Wempi Wetipo is a native Papuan son in the Indonesia Maju cabinet. Wempi, who previously served a Deputy Minister of PUPR, was inaugurated to be a Deputy Minister of Home Affairs. Before serving to be a Deputy Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Wempi Wetipo was the regent of Jayawijaya for two terms. He served in the period 2008-2013 and 2013-2018.

Wempi Wetipo also participated in the 2008 Papua gubernatorial election contested with Abel Melkias to compete with incumbent Lukas Enembe. Lukas Enembe won the gubernatorial election. Meanwhile, before starting his career as an official, it is known that Wempi Wetipo had been a civil servant in Jayawijaya Regency in 1996-1998. He also served as Head of the Promotion and Marketing Section of the Jayawijaya Tourism Office from 1998 to 2006.

Furthermore, Wempi Wetipo served a Head of the General Section of the Jayawijaya Regional Secretariat from 2006 to 2008. Wempi Wetipo studied undergraduate at the Faculty of Law, University of Cenderawasih. Master’s studies were then continued by the Faculty of Law, Cenderawasih University.
