Vaccines to be a Requirement for Those Who Want to Watch PON Papua

goodmorningpapua.com – Papua Governor Lukas Enembe said Papuans who want to watch the National Sports Week (PON) XX 2021 must have received an injection of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Lukas Enembe as a General Chair of PB PON XX Papua said PON participants as well as the committee and the community around the venue must be vaccinated against Covid-19. This is in accordance with what President Joko Widodo said in a limited meeting with the relevant ministries/institutions.

Therefore, according to Lukas, if the public wants to watch the match of Papuan PON XX, they must first undergo the Covid-19 vaccination.

He stated that Papua was very ready to hold the event every four years. In terms of infrastructure, it has been completed, only a few parts need to be improved.

In terms of security, he stated that the TNI Commander and the National Police Chief had confirmed their readiness to support the implementation of PON XX and Peparnas XVI in Papua.

Previously, Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali emphasized that the implementation of the PON XX and the National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) XVI in Papua in October and November 2021 will implement a very strict bubble system, as used in the Tokyo Olympics.

“I think we will apply very strict rules. There is one event that is ahead of us, namely the Tokyo Olympics. We will see that, how we learn from it, because they implement a bubble system,” said the Minister of Youth and Sports after attending the Limited Meeting ( Ratas) led by Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) through a video conference in Jakarta.

With the bubble system, said Zainudin, related parties will be closely guarded. They can only carry out activities related to PON XX and Peparnas.

On the other hand, added Zainudin, all contingents that will take part in PON XX and Peparnas XVI must have undergone Covid-19 vaccination. “For athletes, coaches, officials and support staff, those who came from the 33 provinces were reported to have been vaccinated, and also for the contingent in Papua,” said Zainudin.

Meanwhile, regarding audience attendance, he said it would be decided in September, in accordance with the developments in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic in the country. However, if it is decided that the match can be attended by a limited number of spectators, then the spectators must have been vaccinated.

PON XX of Papua is scheduled to take place on October 2-15 2021 in four clusters of match organizers, namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Merauke and Mimika Regency.
