The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut B. Pandjaitan appreciated the local government’s breakthrough which was able to export commodities from the local area.
“I appreciate this export, even though it is still in the condition of the Covid-19 Pandemic. We need to take full advantage of the fishery potential from Biak,” said Coordinating Minister Luhut, while inaugurating the virtual export of marine and fishery commodities belonging to Biak Numfor, Saturday (28/8).
For him, this export is also supported by connectivity infrastructure in the form of Frans Kaisiepo Airport. This provides a breath of fresh air for exports from Biak to other export destinations in Asia.
The export target for fishery commodities from Biak Numfor has been announced since March 2021 with the City of Tual. This export is coordinated with the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves), the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) and PT Angkasa Pura, as well as the Regional Government of Papua, and of course the Regional Government of Biak Numfor Regency.
The Regent of Biak Numfor Herry Ario Naap expressed his gratitude to the government via the Coordinating Minister Luhut regarding this first export. “Thank you for the support from the centre. We will maintain the quality of our exports,” said Regent Herry.
The virtual meeting was also attended by a team from the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs, namely Assistant Deputy for Capture Fisheries Management Ikram Malan Sangadji, Deputy Assistant for Aquaculture Development Rahmat Mulianda, Representative from KKP, Representative from the Ministry of Transportation, Representative from PT Pelindo, Representative from PT Angkasa Pura, Representative from DPRD of Biak Numfor regency, and Representatives of the Indigenous Peoples of Biak Numfor regency.
