TMII West Papua Pavilion Has Already Been Renovated: The Display Window That Need to Be Treated

goodmorningpapua.com – An Acting Governor of West Papua, Komjen Pol (Purn) Drs. Paul Waterpauw. M. Si, inaugurated the revitalization of the West Papua pavilion at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Friday 25 November 2022.

The TMII West Papua Pavilion had been renovated since September 2022. The renovation was carried out because it started with a video sent by the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian and the Minister of State Secretary when viewing the pavilions of each area where there was TMII some time ago.

“In the future, there will be a cultural fest here. However, the parties will present it, we will show the culture and life in West Papua. This pavilion is a regional storefront, so it must be maintained and its capacity must be increased,” said the Acting Governor.

Previously, the TMII West Papua pavilion was inaugurated by Bram Susunuri on April 21, 2012. At that time, Bram was the Governor of West Papua.

The acting governor mentioned the purpose of the Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of State Secretary to make the video viral, with the hope that the government wants this platform to be the front window for the country and also for the regions to showcase regional potential.

“I have a dream that if there is a big platform here, we will invite investors to present the struggles of our predecessors in West Papua,” he said.

In the same place, Deputy Chairman of Committee I DPD RI, Philep Wamafma appreciated the Acting Governor of West Papua for renovating the pavilion, as a form of maintaining West Papuan culture.

“The pavilion is an identity, this identity should not be lost. What the acting governor did was he wanted culture not to die. Let’s support our leaders, what we do today is for the future,” he said.

He also suggested that the West Papua pavilion could be a place for young people to get to know culture, especially for those outside Papua.

Meanwhile, the Acting Head of the PUPR Service, Yohanis Momot, admitted that the renovation of the TMII West Papua pavilion was the idea and notion of the Acting Governor of West Papua. “This is the idea of the governor. We immediately moved quickly to do renovations, “he said.
