Three Cross-Border Posts Become New Economic Centers in Papua – The Papuan Provincial Government (Pemprov) through the local BPPKLN (Border Management and Foreign Cooperation Agency) is boosting the border area to become a new economic center in Cenderawasih Earth.

A Head of the Papua Province BPPKLN and BPPKLN, Suzana Wanggai, said this was based on Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 1 of 2021 concerning the acceleration of economic development in border areas.

“Papua has only three first Skouw in Jayapura City, then Sota in Merauke, and Yetetkun in Boven Digoel Regency,” she said in Jayapura, Saturday, August 6, 2022.

For this reason, her party together with other technical agencies will oversee the Presidential Instruction because at the National Border Post (PLBN) there are not only cross-border administrative services, but there is also a market.

“Like at the Skouw PLBN, there is a boundary market and other tourist attractions,” said Suzana.

She said when creating a new economic center in the border area, the economy of the local community would also increase.

“We will push Indonesian products to be brought to Papua New Guinea and then sent to other Pacific countries,” said Suzana.

She added that making the existing border in the Papua region a new economic center because Papua Province directly borders several Pacific countries, especially Papua New Guinea which has land and sea access to Indonesia.
