goodmorningpapua.com – Vice President (Wapres) Ma’ruf Amin appealed the TNI and Polri to take firm action and prosecute groups causing trouble in Papua. The Spokesman of Vice President Masduki Baidlowi said this was conveyed by Ma’ruf Amin in an internal meeting with a number of ministers and representatives of the TNI/Polri at Ma’ruf’s official residence in Jakarta, Tuesday (20/12/2022).
“In this case, the Vice President requests that there be firm steps to enforce the law, so that the state is there, so that steps are taken to protect those who are causing trouble, separatism, and that is endangering the country,” said Masduki in a press statement, Tuesday. Masduki said, there is a small group in Papua who deliberately want to cause trouble and terrorize so that people feel uneasy.
“They want people to be restless, they carry out terror, shootings, killings and causing casualties, deliberately creating insecurity,” he said. Therefore, Ma’ruf Amin requested that the state be present and guarantee the safety of citizens so that they can work and earn a living safely. Apart from that, Ma’ruf also emphasized that a humanist approach must be carried out in Papua. Likewise with the territorial approach that must be carried out by all parties, ranging from TNI, Polri, to the civil administration over there, for the territorial approach is considered important. “For what reason, so that there are concrete steps to integrate the security forces and civilians to build prosperity in Papua,” said Masduki.
Masduki added, Ma’ruf Amin also advised that APBN funds belonging to ministries/agencies should be channeled to build prosperity in Papua.
During the meeting, Ma’ruf also received reports that the Papuan people had welcomed the results of the division there. Masduki claimed that the positive response was because the Papuan people knew that regional expansion was aimed at the welfare of Papuans. “So, it is none other than that the regional division aims to build a more prosperous Papua and that is known by the conscience of the Papuan people,” said Masduki.
The meeting was also attended by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Deputy Chief of Police Komjen Gatot Eddy Pramono, and Commander of the Joint Defense Area Command III Lt. Gen. I Nyoman Cantiasa.
