goodmorningpapua.com – An Acting Governor of West Papua, Komjen Pol (Purn) Drs. Paulus Waterpauw, M.Si attended the Sunday morning curch service at GKI Lahai Roi Church, Tohota District, South Manokwari Regency.
In his speech, the Governor of Waterpauw said that the church is a solution for spiritual development for the young generation of West Papua. This is inseparable from the three tasks of the church, namely, Koinonia, Marturia and Diakonia. Koinonia is the task of the church as a community in which followers of Christ are united through Christ the Lord in companionship based on the word of God, Baptism, and Holy Communion.
Then Marturia is the church’s duty to testify. Witnessing in this case means preaching the good news of Christ through the things conducted by the church, both as individuals and as a companionship. While Diakonia is the duty of the church to serve. Good service is service that is expressed through actions, not only through words.
“Happy serving with the heart of a servant, with maintaining the harmonization of communication relations between fellow human beings and may God, who has this work, bless the ladies and gentlemen as His servants in carrying out God’s work,” said the Governor of Waterpauw, Sunday 4 December 2022.
In addition to conveying the church’s duties, the former West Papua Regional Police Chief also reminded the entire Lahai Roi Congregation to utilize the uncultivated land for West Papua’s self-sufficiency and food security.
“To the members of the congregation, I urge you to take advantage of the empty land for West Papua’s self-sufficiency and food security. This is a follow-up to the visit of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia last October and the launching of a food source land garden which will be held on November 10,” said Waterpauw.
The Governor of Waterpauw continued, in order to make the movement proud of local products for the province of West Papua successful, his party has prepared a Draft Governor Regulation (Ranpergub) and will be ratified in the near future.
“The draft governor regulation (Ranpergub) is in the process of harmonization consultation at the ministry of home affairs. This is to make the proud movement for local products of West Papua Province successful,” he asked.
On this occasion, the Governor of Waterpauw appealed to the local congregation to participate in regional development.
“The community’s role in regional development is very important, especially in releasing tradition lands. So we urge the public to be pro-active in development,” he hoped.
During the visit, the Acting Governor of West Papua, Komjen Pol (Purn) Drs. Paulus Waterpauw also handed over assistance in the form of a pulpit and groceries for the Lahai Roi Tohota Congregation.
