Supporting Millennials with Achievement, West Papua Governor’s Cup Esport is Held

goodmorningpapua.com – An Acting Governor of West Papua, Komjen (P) Drs. Paulus Waterpauw, M.Si held the 2022 West Papua Governor Esport Championship, ahead of PON XXI in North Sumatra and Aceh. Esport sports are conducted to inflame the passion of Esport among Papuan millennials.

“We are currently focusing on developing the potential of young people, one of which is in the field of esports. Millennial capacities and abilities must be channeled. For this reason, the Governor’s Cup is present in providing space to channel millennial abilities,” explained the acting governor, Tuesday 6 December 2022.

In his opinion, Esport is a sport that is quite promising, especially in terms of the very rapid development of technology.

“We can already see several professional athletes who have brought Indonesia’s good name. I want these athletes to emerge from West Papua,” he hoped.

The inaugural holding of the West Papua Governor’s Esport Trophy was attended by 4,205 young people throughout West Papua since November 5, 2022.

In the grand final, the 44 best teams divided into 4 sports, namely 16 PUBG Mobile teams, 8 Mobile Legend teams, 12 Free fire teams, and 8 Pro Evolution Soccer teams will compete for 5 days.

The general chairman of PBESI West Papua, Brigadier General TSP Silaban explained the need for esports coaching for the millennial young generation, both groups and individuals to become professional esports athletes.

He said, the Governor of West Papua’s Esport Cup is the biggest event in the region and is proof for athletes to show their talent and potential.
