Merauke. This activity can assist to preserve the environment considering that the Papua region is a very arid region, besides that this reforestation activity also improves the economic center of the community.
A General Manager of PAL, Seo Min Woo, said the fruit tree seeds handed out consisted of 10 seeds of soursop fruit, 10 seeds of cashew nuts, 25 seeds of durian, and 25 seeds of oranges. These fruit seeds are planted on land that has been provided by the local community.
“This assistance certainly has a positive impact in terms of environmental conservation, increasing people’s income, creating food sources and also improving the welfare of the hamlet,” he said in an official statement, Saturday (18/6/2022).
He thought, the reforestation will have a long-term impact, so that in the future it will have sufficient selling value to meet the needs of the local community and the condition of the hamlet will no longer be arid.
“It is hoped that the results from planting fruit tree seeds can benefit the people of Guiss Hamlet, and the company will always support the activities carried out by the community,” said Seo Min Woo.
This activity is a form of concern for environmental conservation and a desire to realize the goals of sustainable development (SDGs).
Meanwhile, the head of Guiss Hamlet, Glenn Maikuin, added that the delivery and demonstration of planting fruit tree seeds, because it is related to the environment here, firstly, fruits can be used to eat and sell for community income.
“All tree seedlings that have been planted will continue with maintenance activities. The types of trees planted have a significant impact on reducing carbon emissions, restoring natural conditions, and dealing with climate change,” he said.
