Several Papuan Personages Support KPK’s Steps for Lukas Enembe

            For example, the General Secretary of the Papua Kingmi Synod, Jones Wenda, explained that gambling is a social disease that should not be practiced. Especially by a local leader. In his view,Lukas must set a good example for the people of Earth of Cenderawasih.

            Jones assesses that if the leader does something that is not right, the community will follow. He also appealed to the Papuan people not to be provoked and to respect the existing legal process.

            Another church figure, Pastor Albert Yoku, explained that the corruption involving the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, was a personal matter. He considered every official must remember God.

            “When he was sworn in as a state official, he took the oath of office. So in carrying out his work, he must remember God and must follow the regulations in the laws applying in the Republic of Indonesia,” he said.

            Pastor Albert Yoku appealed to the public not to hinder the legal process currently being carried out by the KPK. The man who serves as the Chair of the Jayapura Regency Religious Communication Forum (FKUB) believes the anti-corruption agency will act professionally as has been shown to the regents in Papua who are involved in corruption.

        He hoped that every figure would be able to maintain professionalism and act cooperatively to resolve legal cases. The community is also invited not to hinder and respect the legal process so as not to cause other problems.

        Separately, the Papuan youth leader, Martinus Kasuay, supported the KPK’s move to examine corruption allegations against the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe. According to him, whoever is guilty should be given legal sanctions that pass.

        The man who also serves as the Barisan Merah Putih considers that the alleged corruption case of Lukas Enembe is purely law enforcement. Therefore, the case is not related to politicization or criminalization.

        “The case is purely related to the law and not related to criminalization or politicization,” he explained.

        He said that Lukas Enembe’s corruption law enforcement must be completed because Indonesia is a state of law.

        To note, today, Monday, September 26, 2022, Lukas has been absent from the KPK’s summons for the second time. Through his lawyer, Lukas reasoned that he is getting sick.

        Previously, the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) found a number of suspicious transactions by Lukas Enembe with fantastic values. One of them is the purchase of a watch worth around IDR 550 million. In addition, PPATK also found allegations that Lukas had deposited IDR 560 billion in cash to the casino.

        Criticism for Lukas Enembe also came from the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD. As stated by him, since Papua was led by Governor Lukas Enembe, the budget from the Central Government of IDR 500 trillion has produced nothing.

        “Since the time of Mr. Lukas Enembe, more than IDR 500 trillion has been nothing, the people are still poor, the officials are squandering. Many of the funds from the Special Autonomy have been corrupted like this, of course not all of them, but many have been corrupted,” said Mahfud.

        Furthermore, Mahfud MD explained that there were a number of cases that ensnared Lukas Enembe. First, the odd allocation of a special budget for the leadership of the Papua Provincial Government which reaches hundreds of billions. Second, the alleged misappropriation of the PON 2021 Papua budget. In this alleged corruption case, Lukas Enembe is accused of having a special manager for money laundering.
