Revitalization of the Yamagata Monument Cultural Heritage in Sarmi

goodmorningpapua.com – The Commander of Kodim 1712/Sarmi Lt. Col. Inf. Emanuel Setyo Kristiawan leads the implementation of the cleaning activity at the location of the Yamagata Monument cultural heritage, a legacy of World War II, located in Sarmi Village, Sarmi District, Sarmi Regency, Sunday 31 July 2022.

Wherein for the implementation of the service, the Acting Regent of Sarmi Regency, Markus O. Mansnembra, was also present.

The implementation of community service activities is a routine program in order to maintain cleanliness and is a tangible manifestation of the TNI’s and other agency elements’ concern for the importance of protecting the environment, especially the cultural heritage of the Yamagata Monument which is a peace monument to commemorate the occurrence of World War II or the Pacific War in Papua.

Dandim 1712/Sarmi in his opportunity said that this community service activity is a real form of concern for the Regional Government TNI and the community.

“Let’s carry out this task seriously and full of responsibility,” said the Dandim.

It is hoped that the work will be carried out to the fullest, so that the Yamagata Monument is worthy to be seen again.

On the same occasion, the Regent of Sarmi revealed that everything should start small, as the saying goes, little by little, it takes a long time to become a hill.

“I hope that activities like this can run regularly and it is necessary to involve the local community, to instill a sense of belonging and maintain a clean environment. Because the Yamagata Monument does not only belong to the government, but to all of us in Sarmi Regency,” explained the Regent of Sarmi.

Attending the service were Major Inf Ahmad (Kasdim 1712/Sarmi), Inf Captain Gatot S.W (Pasiter Kodim 1712/Sarmi), Inf Captain Ratno (Danramil 1712-01/Sarmi), Captain Inf Sunarman (Pasilog Kodim 1712/Sarmi ), Letda Inf Sutrisno (Danton Kipan B Infantry Battalion RK 751/VJS).
