A citizen of Jember Village, Towe District, Papua, Jhon said that the presence of a 4G base transceiver station (BTS) tower built by the Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) of the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) was very beneficial.
“We are pleased with the construction of the tower in the Towe District,” said John when met in Towe District, Papua, Thursday (21/4/2022).
He said that before the tower was built, he and other villagers had difficulty communicating. The reason is that Jember Village in the Towe District is one of the blank spot areas that did not have an internet signal network.
“Before this (BTS 4G tower) was built, we had to go to Jamrab. From here (Jember Village) to Jamrab it takes 1 day to walk just to get a signal,” said John.
However, after the 4G BTS tower in the village officially operated on Monday (18/4/2022), the residents of Jember Village were able to experience internet network access.
According to John, the internet network does not only make it easier for them to communicate, but villagers are also able to use social media at present.
“Before it was built, there was absolutely no signal at this area. After being built, we can play Facebook,” concluded John.
For information, Bakti Kominfo continues to boost the construction of 1,811 BTS 4G towers in the Papua region. So that the blank spot area, especially in the mountains of Papua, can be immediately minimized.
Currently, 800 BTS towers have been built in various areas of Papua. Towers built in the interior have been equipped with solar panels as an energy source. Energy is then stored in 7 batteries that can last up to 2-3 days.
The battery charging process takes 1 day. Use of battery energy only when the weather conditions are cloudy or gloomy. If the weather is sunny, the energy absorbed by the solar panels is directly utilized by the 4G BTS tower.
