Property Interest in East Indonesia Increases, West Papua Up to 694 Percent – The real estate technology company, 99 Group Indonesia, noted that interest in property locations in Eastern Indonesia grew in the most during the first half of 2021 compared to last year. One of them is in West Papua, which surged to 694 percent.

“This is what we think is a phenomenon that cannot be taken lightly, even though the number of baselines is different,” said Deputy CEO of 99 Group Indonesia, Wasudewan, at the Berita Satu Economic Outlook 2022 event on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

Under the West Papua, there are North Maluku with 625 percent, Papua with 445 percent, Gorontalo with 162 percent, and just under the West Java with 82 percent. These are the five locations with the highest growth in interest from property seekers recorded by the 99 Group.

As for the growth of interest in property disbursement in several provinces outside the five, namely Yogyakarta 66 percent, Banten 57 percent, Jambi 49 percent, and Bali 45 percent. Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta is only 41 percent.

Whereas so far, said Wasudewan, property seekers have only focused on looking at the Jabodetabek area. He assessed that the increase in interest in Eastern Indonesia could not be separated from the allocation of capital placements, both foreign and domestic, outside Java, which had reached 51 percent.

Thus, this trend is being responded to by property seekers in the country. “They want to get a first mover advantage, so infrastructure development and investment outside Java have turned out to be an attractive indicator for property seekers,” he said.

Earlier in the same event, an Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia also explained that the realization of investment from January to September 2021 reached Rp 659.4 trillion. The portion outside Java also reached Rp 340.7 trillion or 51.7 percent.

On the other hand, the 99 Group, which is now based in Singapore and Indonesia, also previously provided information about properties outside Java. One of them was when 99 Group and Real Estate Indonesia (REI) launched an integrated information site about the new State Capital (IKN) in East Kalimantan on November 12, 2021.

VP of Marketing 99 Group Indonesia Bharat Buxani said at that time the main focus highlighted by 99 Group and REI was the providing of property data-based information that was comprehensive, accurate and easy to use.

“This is the basis for us, together with REI, supported by Bappenas, to launch this information,” he said.
