Potential of Multiplier Effect for Infrastructure Development in Papua

goodmorningpapua.com –  In addition to road and bridge infrastructure, President Joko Widodo has also built six infrastructure facilities inaugurated in October 2016.

Among them, the Hydro Power Plant (PLTA) of Orya Genyem 2 × 10 MW,   the Mini Hydro Power Plant of Prafi 2 × 1 25 MW , the 70 kilovolt High Voltage Air Line of Genyem-Waena-Jayapura  along the 174.6 kilo meter circuit.

Besides, there is a 70 kilo Volt High Voltage Air Line (SUTT) of Holte kamp-Jayapura along a 43.4 kilometer circuit, a Waena-Sentani Substation of 20 Megavolt Ampere  and a Jayapura Substation of 20 Megavolt Amper .

Currently, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is building the border road of Indonesia – Papua New Guinea  from Merauke to Jayapura in Papua Province along 1,098.

As well as opening the isolation of remote areas, reducing expensive costs and improving the quality of life of people in the border region of RI-Papua New Guinea

One of the border roads being worked on is road of Oksibil-Towe Hitam-Ubrup-Jayapura, which stretches 5.52 km. The construction work starts from KM 15.5 to KM 21.2 in Bintang Mountains District.

The challenges in the construction of border roads in Papua are natural conditions, which are still forests, mountains and weather. In addition, the availability of construction materials in Papua is also limited, so that it causes price variations which also affect.

In the health sector, the government, through the Indonesian Ministry of Health, has provided a program for PTT doctors to meet the needs of basic public health services in various villages and districts.

In addition to human resources, the central government has also built health infrastructure, one of which is the construction of a COVID-19 hospital in Biak Numfor Regency in 2019/2020, construction of hospitals in a number of expanded areas in Papua and West Papua Provinces and construction of Puskesmas / Pustu facilities.

Meanwhile in the field of education, the government through the Ministry of Education, Culture and Technology Research (Mendikbud Ristek) has implemented a special affirmation program of education for native Papuan students to study at various state universities around the Republic of Indonesia.

This educational affirmation policy has been running well in various state universities throughout Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke. Thousands of native Papuan students have taken higher education with qualifications of diploma, bachelor, master and doctoral programs.

All of this proves the high attention of the central government for indigenous Papuans  in order to live prosperously and be on an equal footing with other communities in Indonesia.
