goodmorningpapua.com – The District Sports Week (Porkab) II 2022 was officially closed by Jayapura Regent Mathius Awoitauw at Barnabas Youwe (SBY) Stadium, Monday 18 July 2022.
Mathius Awoitauw, who is also the General Chair of the Jayapura Regency KONI, expressed his appreciation for all the district contingents that have participated in Porkab II in 2022.
“Although there are still many shortcomings, all matches can run well until they are finished according to the schedule set by the committee,” said Mathius.
In his opinion, the implementation of Porkab II Jayapura has been a success and has become a good history. Because, continued Mathius, only Jayapura Regency can organize Porkab in Papua.
“I can say that this is the second most successful Porkab in Jayapura Regency. Porkab II is a good history because only Jayapura Regency can organize Porkab I and II from all regencies and cities in Papua,” he said.
He also requested all parties to be consistent in continuing this Porkab from year to year. Moreover, Bumi Kenambai Umbai has produced outstanding athletes in various events, both nationally and internationally.
“Our governor, the Governor of Papua Province has declared Papua as a sports province. We hope that from Jayapura we can voice this spirit to various regions in Papua, because we have extraordinary sports facilities and Jayapura must always be at the forefront,” he said.
Head of the 2022 Porkab II Committee, Ruddy Bukaaung noted, there were 863 matches for 788 medals, all of which went well until the end in the Porkab II event.
“Even though it’s not perfect but everything is going well until it’s finished. We thank God and thank all the district contingents, if there are shortcomings, we ask for forgiveness,” he said.
In Porkab II, East Sentani District won the most medals with a collection of 26 gold, 12 silver and 10 bronze medals. With this medal, the East Sentani District won the overall champion of Porkab II 2022.
Meanwhile, the second position was the Sentani City District with 21 gold, 28 silver and 16 bronze medals, followed by the Namblong District in third place with 17 gold, 9 silver and 5 bronze medals.
