goodmorningpapua.com – Thousands of athletes and groups gradually began to arrive at Jayapura City and Jayapura Regency, Papua ahead of the implementation of the National Sports Week or PON Papua. Various knick-knacks for PON Papua have decorated the capital city of Papua Province.
Some of these places have also been decorated with ornaments of PON XX Papua and become interesting photo spots to welcome athletes and visitors in general. Here are 5 interesting photo spots:
1. An Arrival Gate
Sentani Airport becomes more lively with the decorations of the mascots Kangpho and Drawa. At the arrival gate there is a photo spot for PON XX Papua with a slogan “Torang Bisa!!”
If getting lucky, newcomers can meet the cultural ambassador of PON XX Papua and take pictures together. The floor there has also been designed like a running track to beautify the Papuan ornaments completed with the PON logo.
What every participant, including athletes, needs to know is that they must comply with health protocols through the use of the PeduliLindung application.
2. Teletubbies Hill
About 8.6 kilometers from the airport there is a tourism place namely Teletubbies Hill located in Doyo Lama Village, Waibu District. Over there, visitors can see the beauty of Lake Sentani.
If you want to spend a little energy for climbing the stairs, you can get the beauty of a row of green hills combined with the blue of Lake Sentani. Visitors can also do a tracking through the hills.
Not far from Teletubbies hill, there is a PON Papua hockey and cricket arena, precisely in Kampung Doyo Baru, which is being used for the PON XX Papua esports exhibition match.
3. Hamadi Beach
Located in the city of Jayapura, Hamadi Beach is very close to the city center. Besides being easy to reach, this beach is beautiful with white sand and leafy trees. On the beach, there is also a hut to rest while enjoying the sea breeze. Visitors can also swim on the beach.

The bridge which was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo in October 2019 has become a new landmark for Papua. The main stretch of the Youtefa Bridge reaches 732 meters and connects the main area of Jayapura City with the Muara Tami District. The width of the Youtefa Bridge is 21 meters with a long connecting road of 10 kilometers.
On the right side at the end of the bridge, you can see cafes and places for eating that are being built. Meanwhile, on the left side is the rowing arena for the PON XX Papua match, located in Youtefa Bay.
5. Skyline
Skyline is on a hillside with views over Youtefa Bay. From here you can also see the Youtefa bridge. Skyline is not actually a tourist spot, but a roadside area that connects Jayapura-Abepura-Sentani. The surrounding scenery makes it perfect for a snapshot spot at the Papua PON moment.
