goodmorningpapua.com – The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) of Papua hopes that the PON XX will become an arena to increase the economy in the easternmost province of Indonesia. Currently, the hotel development is starting to bloom again after being stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This statement was conveyed by the Chairperson of the PHRI of Papua Sahril Salim to Antara on Friday (4/6) in Jayapura. He said specifically for the City and Regency of Jayapura, several new hotels appeared which would later become new jobs.
The built hotels are expected to accommodate PON XX participants from various regions in Indonesia. “What is certain is that PHRI of Papua is ready to support PON XX which is scheduled to take place from October 2-15,” said Sahril.
When asked about the readiness to implement health protocols (prokes) considering that Covid-19 is still endemic, Sahril admitted that hotels and restaurants in Papua always implement health protocols in their operations. Prokes have become the standard during the Covid-19 pandemic, not only in hotels and restaurants but also in stalls preparing the handwashing facilities and soap.
PON XX will be held in four districts and cities in Papua, namely Jayapura City and District, Merauke, and Mimika District. Currently, there are 80 hotels from various categories spread across the four districts and cities where the PON XX is held in Papua.
