Peparnas can be as Safe and Comfortable as PON Papua

goodmorningpapua.com – A Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali believes that the XVI Papua National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) will be going on safely and comfortably.

Zainudin Amali said that the TNI and Polri as well as the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) would be able to carry out their duties properly, such as during the security of the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON), some time ago.

“Security efforts are still the same as during the PON, which is the responsibility of the TNI-Polri and also the Intelligence Agency. So, everything is prepared and made comfortable,” said Zainudin Amali as quoted by the official website of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Friday.

Amali also emphasized that there were no concerns like the news circulating before the PON of Papua.

“I was in an office in Papua for almost 20 days during the PON and I was safe. Going here and there did not need strict escorts, even I sometimes walked alone, there was no problem,” said the Minister of Youth and Sports.

He hopes that this atmosphere will occur during the implementation of the Papua National Peparnas which will take place in two clusters, namely the City and Jayapura Regency on November 2-15, 2021.

“So, the condition is secure, comfortable and athletes can compete comfortably without excessive worries and everything can run smoothly. I believe in the TNI-Polri and BIN we have worked as well as possible, they can secure PON I am sure they can also secure Peparnas this,” said the Minister of Youth and Sports.

At the Peparnas Papua event, no less than 1,985 athletes from 34 provinces will compete in 12 sports with 602 match numbers.

Based on the schedule, athletes from various regions will arrive at Bumi Cendrawasih on November 2, 2021 and immediately carry out the classification and legitimacy before finally the opening ceremony will take place at the Mandala Stadium on November 5, 2021.

One day later, athletes will start to compete in the greatest sporting event for athletes with disabilities in the country.

The sports that will be competed are weight lifting, athletics, boccia, badminton, chess, judo, shooting, archery, swimming, CP football, wheelchair court tennis, and table tennis.

The closing ceremony for Papernas of Papua is scheduled to take place at the Mandala Stadium on November 13, 2021. Then the athletes will return to their respective regions on November 14 and 15, 2021.
