goodmorningpapua.com – Various elements who are members of the Papuan Land Development Care Student Forum support the Corruption Eradication Commission’s move to prosecute the alleged corruption case against Governor Lukas Enembe. They held demonstrations at several points in Jakarta on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.
A field action coordinator Charles Kossay said that apart from supporting the KPK, Papuan students in the Jakarta area also supported the National Police in arresting and taking firm action against groups or individuals who deliberately obstructed the law enforcement process against Lukas.
“According to Article 21 of Law Number 31 of 1999, as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption,” Charles said in a written statement, Wednesday, October 12, 2022.
Charles said they got ready to guard the KPK in carrying out examinations, investigations, and the trial process against the Governor of Papua for the two periods. In addition, he also urged all parties in Papua to exercise restraint so that Luke’s legal process runs according to the legal corridors in Indonesia.
“We want there to always be peace in the Land of Papua and we don’t want horizontal conflicts to occur in the Land of Papua. We will never be afraid and back down in uncovering acts of eradicating corruption in the Land of Papua,” he said.
The demonstration started at 10.00 WIB in the Horse Statue area, Central Jakarta. They then walked to the KPK’s Red and White Building on Jalan HR Rasuna Said.
They also held speeches in front of the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs. The Deputy for Internal Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Major General Djaka Budhi Utama, met with ten representatives of the demonstrators.
To the protesters, Djaka promised to convey their aspirations to the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud Md.
The KPK had previously named Lukas Enembe as a suspect in a gratification case of Rp. 1 billion. The gratuity is allegedly related to a number of development projects.
However, the KPK stated that it was investigating another corruption case involving the Democrat Party politician. Lukas is known to have suspicious financial transactions whose value is said to be in the hundreds of billions.
The Financial Transaction Analysis Reporting Center (PPATK) stated that it had frozen 11 accounts belonging to Lukas Enembe and his family. PPATK stated that there were funds of around IDR 71 billion in accounts registered with the various financial service providers.
PPATK chairman Ivan Yustiavandana stated that his party also found various suspicious financial transactions carried out through the account. Among them is the matter of transactions amounting to IDR 560 billion at a casino.
The KPK has also rescheduled the Assistant Director of Marina Bay Sands (MBS) Casino Singapore, Defry Stalin. Defry was originally scheduled to undergo an examination on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, but did not attend.
Until now, Lukas Enembe also has not fulfilled the summons for examination by the KPK. He has been absent twice by reasoning of illness. The KPK’s offer for Lukas to undergo an examination by a team of doctors in Jakarta was ignored.
The KPK’s efforts to forcefully pick up Luke were also considered difficult. Because hundreds of Luke’s supporters stand guard at his private residence every day.
In addition, Lukas’ wife and children, Yulice Wenda and Astract Bona Timoramo Enembe, also ignored the KPK’s summons to be witnesses in this case. Their attorney, Emanuel Herdiyanto, stated that they had the right to refuse to testify in the Luke Enembe case. This, for him, has been regulated in the Corruption Act.
