Papuan Imports is Valued 52.73 Million US Dollars in June 2022

goodmorningpapua.com – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Papua Province stated that local imports were recorded at 52.73 million US dollars in June 2022. The imports were in the form of oil and gas worth 19 million US dollars and non-oil and gas imports worth 33.73 million US dollars.

A Head of BPS Papua Province Adriana Helena Carolina, said that compared to May 2022, the value of local imports increased by 89.73 percent which was influenced by non-oil and gas imports which also increased by 1.11 percent. “Non-oil and gas commodities with the largest import value come from the iron and steel category (HS85) which has a value of 13.25 million US dollars or 49.64 percent of the total import value of main non-oil and gas commodities,” he said.

Adriana added that oil and gas imports recorded an increase of USD 220.48 million, with total cumulative imports from Papua in the January-June 2022 period of USD 143.02 million, an increase of 54.16 percent. “This 54.16 percent increase is compared to the total cumulative imports in the January-June 2021 period, which was valued at US$143.02 million,” he said.

He explained that the cumulative import value of oil and gas from January to June 2022 was worth 101.02 million US dollars, while the cumulative non-oil and gas import value from Papua was worth 119.47 million US dollars in the January-June 2022 period. 2022 was recorded at 26.70 million US dollars, an increase of 211.56 percent compared to May 2022 of 8.57 million US dollars.

He added that imports from seven main countries in June 2022 were recorded at 31.32 million US dollars, an increase of 13.30 percent compared to May 2022 of 27.79 million US dollars.
