Papuan Economy Grows by 9 Percent – Bank Indonesia (BI) representative of Papua Province predicts Papua’s economic growth in the second quarter of the first semester to reach 9.2 percent.

A number of sectors that are able to boost the Papuan economy are the fisheries, agriculture and tourism sectors.

“Another indicator is the current increase in community mobility. Overall in 2022 in quarters 1, II, III and IV the increase reached 8.2 – 9.2 percent. So, economic growth is in that range in 2022,” said the Head of BI Representative Papua Province July Budi Winantya, Tuesday (26/4/2022).

Besides, there are payment indicators such as debit cards, credit cards and QRIS, all of which have started to increase.

“So with increased mobility. Then the level of the vaccine was higher and advanced again. We hope this will increase in the future,” he said.

He admitted that this growth index was not as high as last year’s 15.11 percent. However, with a range of 8.2 – 9.2 percent, including the mining sector, it is already good for Papua’s current economic growth.
