goodmorningpapua.com – PT Freeport Indonesia gave a bonus of IDR 4.9 billion for Papuan athletes reaching achievements in the XX National Sports Week (PON) which will be held in October 2021.
The athlete bonus funds were symbolically handed over at the Jayapura Autonomous Office, Wednesday 9 March 2022, attended by Denni J Rumayomi from PT Freeport Jayapura Representative, General Secretary of PB PON Papua, Elia Loupatty, Deputy II of KONI Papua, George W and Coach of the Men’s Football Team PON XX Papua , Eduard Ivakdalam.
Of the total bonuses, IDR 1 billion of which was handed over to the Men’s Football Team PON XX Papua, while the remaining Rp. 3.9 billion was handed over to gold-winning athletes from 36 sports (sports).
PT Freeport Indonesia representative, Danni J Rumayomi said that his part really appreciates the struggles and efforts of the athletes starting from coaching in each sport to the implementation of the XX Papua PON.
“This is a process that generates athletes and this achievement can be achieved with the guidance of PB PON and KONI as well as the efforts of athletes who are very focused on participating in training,” Danny said, Wednesday, March 9, 2022.
He hopes that this achievement will be maintained and developed in the future. So that the achievements of athletes from Papua do not end at the XX PON event but also in the next event.
Meanwhile, the General Secretary of PB PON Papua, Elia Loupatty appreciated the assistance provided by Freeport Indonesia to Papuan athletes who excel.
Elia said that the aid funds had been transferred to the account of the XX Papua PON Grand Committee since January 2022. He also ensured that the aid funds from Freeport for athletes were not cut by the committee.
“We will just continue, for example, for the Men’s Football Team, which won a gold medal of IDR 1 billion. Now, how the distribution will be, later it will be a matter for the (football) team and we will not intervene, nor will PT Freeport,” he said.
