goodmorningpapua.com – A Vice President (Wapres) Ma’ruf Amin chaired the Papua Handling Approach meeting after the 2021 Papua Special Autonomy Law at the Vice Presidential Palace on Wednesday (15/12). After the meeting, Ma’ruf said the government would accelerate the division of territory in Papua.
As stated by Ma’ruf, the government will accelerate the process of developing the regional division in Papua. “Especially in infrastructure development and strategy realization using a regional approach,” said Ma’ruf.
On this occasion, Ma’ruf did not explain further about the division of territory in Papua. “The team will accelerate the development of regional division in Papua to accelerate development,” said Ma’ruf.
Development is not only physical infrastructure. But also security infrastructure, institutions, until the realization of a more perfect territorial approach. Ma’ruf also conveyed the government’s commitment to advancing the Papuan people.
This commitment is contained in Presidential Instruction 9/2020 concerning the Acceleration of Welfare Development in Papua. In its implementation, there are several field dynamics that have resulted in the program advancing Papua not running optimally.
For this reason, according to the vice president, it is necessary to strengthen affirmative development policies in the field as an effort to accelerate the development of the welfare of the Papuan people.
“The legal basis already exists, it is quite strong, we just need to implement affirmative development policies in the field that must be strengthened,” said Ma’ruf.
Among concrete steps to strengthen policies in the field, Ma’ruf explained, the government is currently drafting a Presidential Regulation regarding the Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Development of Special Autonomy in Papua (BP3OP). The agency aims to support the realization of the welfare of the Papuan people.
He added that in the preparation of the BP3OP there would be collaboration between the central government and the Papua Provincial Government. The collaboration is to build synergies to accelerate welfare development in Papua.
“Later, the vice president will become the Deputy Chairman of BP3OKP. Then assisted by the Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, as well as representatives from the Papua region. For the secretariat from Papua Province, which involves figures from the Papuan Indigenous People (OAP),” said Ma’ruf.
