Nearly 100% of West Papuans are Assured of the JKN program – The West Papua Provincial Government consistently ensures health insurance for all its citizens through the National Health Insurance Program (JKN). This can be seen from the achievement of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) of 99.07% of the population of West Papua who have become JKN participants.

For this achievement, a Director of BPJS Kesehatan [Healthcare and Social Security Agency], Lily Kresnowati, accompanied by Head of BPJS Kesehatan Manokwari Branch Deny Jermy Eka Putra Mase handed over the UHC Award Certificate to Acting Governor of West Papua Paulus Waterpauw, Monday (05/12).

This award is related to the determination of West Papua Province which has reached the UHC JKN program for achieving JKN membership of 1,150,186 people or 99.07%, of the total population of 1,161,028 people. This achievement even exceeds the target of the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), which targets a minimum of 98% of the population to be protected by JKN in 2024.

Apart from that, a Memorandum of Understanding and the JKN Program UHC Work Plan were also signed between the BPJS Kesehatan Deputy for Papua and West Papua Region and the Provincial Government of West Papua.

“West Papua is the fourth province out of all provinces in Indonesia after NAD, DKI Jakarta and Bengkulu. This UHC achievement is certainly not the end of everything, more than that we really need the support of the West Papua Provincial Government to maintain and increase the number of JKN membership so that residents the more protected their health insurance is,” said Lily in a written statement, Tuesday (6/12/2022).

Meanwhile, Paulus conveyed that the achievement of UHC was the result of the cooperation of all parties in supporting the national health insurance program. He also emphasized that the certainty of comprehensive health insurance for the people is also a shared responsibility, especially the regional government.

Paulus revealed that his party continues to increase outreach to people whose health services are not yet guaranteed. Particularly, in areas that are far from urban areas because they are considered not to have awareness of the importance of health insurance protection.

He added that through the West Papua Provincial Government’s UHC collaboration with BPJS Kesehatan, all West Papuans can take advantage of health services. If you are sick, it is enough to show your KTP, you can immediately go to the Puskesmas for treatment. In an emergency, he continued, he could access the hospital emergency room and was guaranteed by BPJS Kesehatan based on the applicable procedures.

“For this reason, on behalf of the Provincial Government of West Papua, I expect support from all parties, including the Heads of Districts/Cities in the Province of West Papua to make the national strategic program successful, specifically in the health sector, which requires hard work, planning that is really monitored and implemented. guarded as well as possible,” said Paulus.

For information, BPJS Health has also provided various information channels and complaint handling to increase socialization efforts related to the JKN Program. The public can access the BPJS Kesehatan Care Center 165, the official social media for BPJS Kesehatan, as well as access BPJS SATU officers at the hospital.

In addition, BPJS Kesehatan also continues to expand membership registration and administration channels, both face-to-face and non-face-to-face, such as Administrative Services via Whatsapp (PANDAWA) 08118165165.
