Ministry of Home Affairs Looks for Local Papuan Champions

goodmorningpapua.com – A Directorate General of Regional Autonomy of the Ministry of Home Affairs held a Capacity Building Training for Papuan Indigenous Local Champions (OAP) at the Aston Niu Manokwari Hotel, West Papua, 12-14 October 2022.

Director General (Dirjen) of Otda, Akmal Malik, said the activity was to prepare local champions through the national talent management mechanism. This effort is carried out to strengthen the talents of the Papuan people in accelerating development in Papua according to Presidential Instruction (Inpres) No. 9 of 2020 concerning the Acceleration of Welfare Development in Papua Province and West Papua Province.

The government targets 100 Papuan youth talents including women and disabled people who have been trained to become local champions under the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas). This is to accommodate and encourage development aspirations in Papua and West Papua through the Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Development of Special Autonomy for Papua (Papua Steering Committee).

Therefore, Akmal invites all training participants to focus on participating in various activities. “For the local champions, congratulations on the training and let’s focus on developing the Papuan land advanced and prosperous,” he said.
