goodmorningpapua.com – A mayor of Sorong, Lambertus Jitmau, supports the central government’s plan to form the province of Southwest Papua. Lambertus said the division of West Papua Province was for the welfare of the people.
As is known, the House has approved the Draft Law (RUU) on the Establishment of the Southwest Papua Province.
“Don’t think about what we get, but when I think about how much I have done for this land. Everyone does not believe in Southwest Papua, God is my savior,” said Lambertus Jitmau in Sorong, Friday (8/7/2022).
Lambertus, who is a Chair of the Acceleration of the Expansion of West Papua Province (PBD), said that the division of West Papua was to provide opportunities for generations in Sorong Raya and its surroundings to develop.
“At most the next two weeks the difficulties will be over. In front of our eyes is the most beautiful gold in Sorong Raya, aka South West Papua Province,” said Lambertus.
He said that the plan to form the Southwest Papua Province was not for him, but for the next generation of Papuans in the future.
“If we don’t set a good foundation up today, they will become beggars and even become extinct. But if we can, we can leave the beautiful memories of the South West Papua Province for Papuans,” he said.
Lambertus said, for candidates for the Province of South West Papua anywhere. Lambertus predicts that the new provincial capital will be in Sorong Raya, which includes five regencies and one city, namely Sorong City, Sorong Regency, Raja Ampat Regency, South Sorong Regency, Maybrat Regency and Tambrauw Regency.
