goodmorningpapua.com. – The land of Papua has a treasure of cultural and literary diversity to write about. However, until now, many articles on Papua have not been reviewed on the Wikipedia site, an online encyclopedia site that almost always appears at the top of the pages of internet search sites.
A Papuan writer, John Waromi, who has ever published a Papuan ecology novel entitled “Anggadi Tupa” that had been translated into English, always mentions that if young Papuans don’t write, it is the same as burying the history and stories of the Papuan people themselves.
It is something that has become the trigger for holding training in writing and awakening the potential of Papuans writing based on their interests.
For supporting this agenda, the Lontar Foundation cooperated with the University of Cenderawasih, and Wikimedia Indonesia, often to hold training to write articles on literature, culture and history of Papua on the Indonesian language Wikipedia.
The Lontar Foundation routinely conducts the creative writing training handled with Dorothea Rosa Herliany, the author of the novel Isinga, Roman Papua that won Kusala Sastra Khatulistiwa, as well as Ibiroma Wamla and Andy Tagihuma, writers and founders of the Papuan Literary Community.
Quoting Pramoedya Ananta Toer, “A person may be smart as high as the sky, but as long as he does not write, he will be lost in society and from history. Writing is work for eternity.” This mission is carried out by the Lontar Foundation to encourage the birth of writings and literary works that can go global.
The writing of Literary is created to explore the potential of literary works and produce reliable writers from Papua. “We support this activity very much, we want to encourage the birth of works from Papua that can go global. The Lontar Foundation has published many of the best and having quality works, ”he said.
The activities of the Lontar Foundation can boost many writers from Papua to produce their best works, and the Lontar Foundation can select and translate them to be published globally.
