Recently, the name of the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, has become a hot topic of public discussion because he is suspected of being involved in a corruption case.
Regarding this matter, the Main Expert of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), Theo Litaay, appealed to all Papuans to participate in guarding the case and support all legal proceedings against Lukas Enembe.
Theo emphasized that law enforcement is indeed a proof of an increase in good governance in Cendrawasih Earth.
“But this is an effort aimed at improving a clean and authoritative government in Papua,” he said in a discussion on one television station.
Previously, it was known that there was an allegation that Lukas Enembe had made transactions of up to IDR 560 billion to casinos located abroad. According to Theo, this is an act that tarnishes the sense of justice of the Papuan people.
“This is something that really shakes the sense of justice, if we look at the situation in Papua, which is still at the level of one of the poorest provinces in Indonesia,” he explained.
Firmly, Theo also hopes that the KPK can actually conduct an in-depth investigation of this case. The reason is that there have been as many as two calls issued by the KPK to Lukas Enembe, but it turns out that he did not fulfill the calls at all and there has been no attempt to force a pick-up.
It should be noted that the current status of the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, has been a suspect since September 5, 2022, due to allegations of gratification.
Not only that, the alleged case that dragged his name was also related to a suspicious transaction regarding the purchase of a luxury watch worth IDR 550 million.
With several transactions that have touched numbers above IDR 500 billion, it is in contrast to the wealth report belonging to Lukas Enembe which was recorded in 2021 and was only around IDR 33.78 billion.
It is known that the Governor of Papua is also a cadre of the Democratic Party, but the Deputy Chairperson of the Democratic Party, Benny K Harman emphasized that his party strongly supports that the eradication of corruption must be enforced fairly and indiscriminately.
“We, the Democrat Party, support the agenda of eradicating corruption. But it must be fair and according to the rule of law,” said Benny, in Jakarta.
Furthermore, he also hand over the case completely to law enforcement.
“We give up the case to law enforcement and respect the legal process for those concerned,” he said.
Firmly, the Democratic Party also admitted that it would never protect cadres involved in corruption cases.
“The party does not protect anyone who is exposed to corruption cases,” he said.
