goodmorningpapua.com – The Jayapura Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) claims the distribution of clean water has been normal again after repairing the main transmission pipe for the 450 mm Kojabu line.
A President Director of PDAM Jayapura, Entis Sutisna, said that the repair of the main transmission pipe for the Kojabu line had been going on for 4 days and 3 nights. The steel pipe joint is located in the hills of an alternative road.
“Especially for the damage of the Kojabu pipeline, we can already distribute it normally, which is currently serving in the North Jayapura area. For Monday, Thursday and Saturday services, it is for the North Jayapura area. Meanwhile Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday for the South Jayapura and Abepura areas,” said Entis in Jayapura, Monday, March 7, 2022.
Entis stated that he had taken long-term anticipatory steps by monitoring the main pipeline which was prone to damage due to landslides. The main transmission pipeline for the Kojabu line has 2 crucial points or is in a vulnerable area, namely in the hills of the alternative road and Kampwolker.
“For pipe at the Kampwolker intake is hanging on the cliff of the watershed because there is no more support. The trees and the supporting roots have been cut down by irresponsible people, causing the pipe to potentially break and fall into the Kampwolker river,” he explained.
In addition to anticipating broken pipes due to landslides, PDAM Jayapura also continues to monitor illegal connections by community elements. This condition occurred in Intake Bhayangkara, North Jayapura District.
“Our most concern is the people who make holes in the pipes for sake of their personal interests,” said Entis.
