Kemendikbudristek Makes Permits Easy to Establish Higher Education in Papua

goodmorningpapua.com – A Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) facilitates the processing of permits for the establishment of universities in Papua. Kemendikbudristek has eased a number of requirements in establishing universities in Papua.

The Head of the Higher Education Service Institute for Region XIV Papua and West Papua, Suriel Semuel Mofu, said that the relief included reducing the requirement for the number of study programs from five to three. According to Suriel, the requirement for the number of lecturers per study program has also been reduced from six to five lecturers.

In addition, he said, the procedure for opening new study programs in accordance with the needs of universities in Papua was also simplified. Suriel also explained that the Higher Education Service Institute supports the implementation of higher education and bridges university partnerships with the government and industry.

“We are starting to build communication and cooperation with various cross-sectoral parties, both the central and regional government levels, as well as the business and industry world so that universities in Papua can have access to realize the Independent Campus Independent Learning Program,” he said.

According to data from the Higher Education Service Institute for Region XIV Papua and West Papua, there are currently 42 universities consisting of six state universities and 36 private universities in Papua.
