The Lake Sentani Festival is coupled with the VI Congress of Indigenous Peoples of the Archipelago (KMAN) in Jayapura Regency and the 9th Anniversary of the Awakening of Indigenous Peoples (KMA) Jayapura Regency.
This festival, which is an annual event for the Jayapura Regency Government, was held at Kalkote Beach, East Sentani District, Jayapura Regency. FDS takes place from 24-29 October 2022.
Jayapura Regent, Mathius Awoitauw appreciated the breakthrough initiated by the Jayapura Regency Tourism and Creative Economy Office together with other institutions, so that FDS could take place successfully and quite interestingly.
The Mother Language Tourism Village, said Mathius, is a village designated and managed as a village that preserves the mother tongue. This village will have a tourism concept by prioritizing local culture or local wisdom.
“This is part of the revival of indigenous peoples in preserving their culture, in this case their mother tongue, which is conceptualized with tourism,” said Mathius, Saturday, October 29, 2022.
He hopes that mother tongue tourist villages will continue to be promoted and preserved, because behind maintaining customs and culture there are also economic benefits to be obtained, especially with the concept of tourism.
In addition to launching the Mother Language Tourism Village, the Jayapura Regent also launched the Kenambai Karisma Event and the Kenambai Enchantment Logo. The Karisma Event itself is a series of annual events that will take place in Jayapura Regency according to the Jayapura Regency tourism event calendar.
Meanwhile, the Pesona Kenambai Logo is a logo that will be used in promotional events for tourist destinations and other tourism products, specifically for Jayapura Regency. This is as known nationally, there is Pesona Indonesia and Wonderful Indonesia internationally.
It is known that the 12th Lake Sentani Festival is the last festival under the leadership of the Jayapura Regent, Mathius Awoitauw, who ended his term of office in December 2022.
