IKEMAL of Papua calls for Peaceful Messages to Respond to Conflicts in Sorong and Ambon

goodmorningpapua.com – The Maluku Family Association (Ikemal) in Papua held a meeting to call for a message of peace in responding the conflicts that occurred in Sorong City, West Papua and Haruka Island, Ambon.

The meeting chaired by a Chairman of IKEMAL in Papua, Christian Sohilait, was attended by the Chairman of the Matasiri Pelauw Association in Papua, Balansong Latuconsina and General Chairperson of the Kei Student and Youth Association in Papua, Soleman Ku’ur.

In the meeting, the IKEMAL Papua Chair Christian Sohilait appealed the public not to be provoked by the conflicts that occurred in the cities of Sorong and Ambon. He also apologized to all parties affected by the conflict in Sorong City.

“I hope that we in Papua and Maluku will not be provoked by the conflicts that have occurred in Sorong and Ambon, Haruku Island. Let’s hand over all these problems to the police to solve them legally,” Christian messaged, Wednesday, January 26, 2022.

Christian appealed to all associations and village leaders in Papua, as well as the Maluku people throughout the archipelago to take part in taking care of the situation safe and conducive.

“If we hear anything, please don’t post it on social media, whether it’s news or photos, because it really disturbs the security and order situation, especially for families who are experiencing grief,” Christian pleaded.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Matasiri Pelauw Association in Papua, Balansong Latuconsina apologized to the Kei family in Sorong Raya City and the Sorong Raya Indigenous Community for the incident in Sorong.

“Dear Moluccan brothers in Papua, let’s always join hands with our motto, namely cutting the nails with the taste of meat, ale with beta flavor,” said Balansong.

The same thing was conveyed by the General Chairperson of the Kei Student and Youth Association in Papua, Soleman Ku’ur who expressed his condolences to the families of the victims who died as a result of the conflict that occurred some time ago.

He hoped that the incident in Sorong, West Papua, would not have an impact anywhere. “To all Maluku people in Papua, let’s work together to take care of order and peace, especially in Sorong City,” said Soleman.

It is known that the clashes occurred on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, yanked 18 lives, 17 of them burned to death in a nightclub, while the remaining one died from stab wounds.
