goodmorningpapua.com – A Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the House, Saan Mustopa, said that there are still opportunities for a number of New Autonomous Regions (DOB) in Papua to participate in the 2024 General Election.
“If it can be ratified in the near future, of course it will have an effect,” said Saan at the Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday (24/5/2022).
He said the ratification of the DOB Bill would certainly have implications for the election mechanism. One of them, there is the addition of electoral districts (Dapil) in the region. “Both will affect the number of seats in parliament,” he said. Saan is not sure whether the ratification of the new autonomous region bill will also have an impact on the revision of the Election Law. To be sure, Commission II will first discuss the new DOB Bill.
“Whether it will be revised or the Perppu, we will see which one is the most likely to be the legal reason,” he concluded.
