Dormena Village is located in the Depapre District, Jayapura Regency. The distance is about two hours by motorbike from Sentani. Dormena is located at the foot of Mount Cycloops. The lush forest presents a charming green scenery. Not only that, the marine tourism is also very dazzling.
Dormena is blessed with clear watery beaches. The waters on the shores of Dormena are like a giant mirror that reflects the blue sky. The rocks along the coast complete the beauty of the landscape.
“The atmosphere here is very different from in the city (Sentani). The (natural) scenery is so tempting, with the sea clear and blue,” said Jhoses Magai, who visited Dormena Beach last month.
The waters of Dormena Beach are also known to have beautiful underwater views. Unfortunately, the various tourism potentials have not been exploited optimally yet. One of the main obstacles in developing tourism in Dormena is the quality of the infrastructure. The road to Dormena is in very bad condition. The land transportation access is filled with potholes, and it is muddy and slippery during the rainy season.
“Many good locations (interesting to visit) in Dormena . The Tourism Office together with the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office should come and talk to the village community (to overcome infrastructure problems),” said Magai.
Rusen Tabuni, a member of the Papuansphoto Community, expressed similar admiration. He also asked the government to improve the infrastructure at the tourist sites.
“The scenery in Dormena is very beautiful, (panoramic) mountains, cliffs, sea and beaches. The government should arrange this location to attract more visitors,” said Tabuni.
