goodmorningpapua.com – PLN continues to make efforts to distribute electricity to all corners of Papua. This commitment is demonstrated by the presence of electricity in 39 villages in Merauke Regency, Boven Digoel Regency and Mappi Regency which are located in South Papua Province.
Of all the areas that are electrified, 22 villages are supplied by Solar Power Plants (PLTS) with a total capacity of 850 kWp. In the process of distributing electricity to the 2,125 customers, PLN is building a medium voltage network (JTM) on the Waropko System grid of 33 kms and a total low voltage network (JTR) of 76.05 kms.
The Regent of Merauke, Romanus Mbaraka, is grateful for PLN’s efforts to serve the local community. As the capital of South Papua Province, the local government will continue to collaborate with PLN in order to maximize services.
“We are grateful for the hard work of PLN in trying to provide electricity. The Merauke Regency Government is committed to continuing to assist PLN, so that the electricity demand can be gradually fully met. We ask the public to maintain the electricity facilities that are currently available,” said Romanus, Friday (30/12/2022).
In addition, the Regent of Boven Digoel, Hengky Yaluwo, is sure that the presence of electricity will help the community, especially for education and the economy.
Of the 39 villages that were successfully electrified, as many as 25 villages were able to feel electricity for 24 hours and 14 other villages were lit for 6 hours every day. Going forward, PLN will continue to improve reliability and service, so that all customers can enjoy 24-hour electricity.
An Acting Regional Secretary of Mappi, Maurids Kabagaimu, thanked the PLN for illuminating most of the villages in Mappi District, Maurids felt that the existing electricity really helped expedite community activities. “We are very happy to establish good communication with PLN, so that we can realize people’s expectations to feel the light. Hopefully in the future it should be better,” he explained.
General Manager of PLN Main Unit for Papua and West Papua Region, Budiono, is relieved that PLN can be present to provide electricity to 39 villages in South Papua Province. Utilization of solar energy is PLN’s effort to support the acceleration of the new renewable energy mix targeted by the government.
“This is a gift from God that we should be grateful for because finally we can bring electricity to the community,” he explained.
PLN hopes that the good synergy will continue so that electricity can be fully present in eastern Indonesia.
“Thank you to the local government for the assistance and support provided. Hopefully, PLN can quickly increase the operating hours in villages that have not been electrified for 24 hours,” he said.
