Garin Nugroho Praises Papuan People Acting Talents

goodmorningpapua.com – A Director Garin Nugroho praised the acting talent of the Papuan people. In his latest film, The President’s Bike, Garin Nugroho does involve many Papuans, including three child actors named Arnold Asmuruf, Franken Ramandei, and Elias Pandawa.

He believes that all Papuans have been gifted with acting talent completed with singing and dancing abilities. “So indeed, each tribe has its own advantages in body language. Papuan friends, their bodies and nature have become one,” said Garin Nugroho when met in South Jakarta, Monday (20/12/2021).

Garin Nugroho felt that the abilities of the Papuan people were greatly helped during the shooting. According to Garin, some of the difficult scenes were even done happily by them.

“The running scene was from end to end, if I was a player from Java, I only ran once to the hospital. Uben actually fell into the hole, there was wood in his leg, that is if my Javanese player has been tried by his parents,” said Garin. Garin Nugroho admitted that he had realized this since working on The Planet – A Lament theater which also involved Papuans.

“Because of black people, anywhere in the world, the talent for acting, singing, and dancing have become one in their bodies,” said Garin Nugroho. The President’s bicycle itself marks the 40th anniversary of Garin Nugroho’s work in the film industry. The film, which also stars Ariel Tatum, will start showing in theaters on December 23, 2021.
