Fuel Get Rising, Prices of Goods in Wamena Still in Proper Condition

goodmorningpapua.com – T he Jayawijaya Department of Manpower, Industry and Trade (Disnakerindag) assesses that the price of goods in Wamena is still within a reasonable status amid rising fuel prices (BBM).

“Up to now, the price of goods on the Wamena market is still within the normal or reasonable tariff even though there is an increase in prices due to the increase in fuel prices,” said a Head of the Jayawijaya Manpower Industry and Trade Agency, Lukas Kossay to reporters in Wamena, Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

Lukas admitted that there was an increase in several commodities or kitchen spices in Wamena as a result of the increase in fuel prices by the government. However, according to him, the increase in fuel prices does not only occur in Indonesia.

“This increase in fuel prices is not only experienced by us in Indonesia, but also worldwide. Therefore, the impact is that prices in the market will really increase, especially for us in Jayawijaya,” he said.

Based on observations in the capital city of Wamena, continued Lukas, some commodities imported from outside Jayawijaya have increased, while local commodities are still normal.

He gave an example, the price of eggs, garlic and tomatoes shipped from outside Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Mountains. “There are several factors in changing market prices in Wamena, firstly, changes in fuel prices which trigger an increase in transportation costs, both land, sea and air,” he explained.

For basic materials subsidies from the government, Lukas said it was still based on one price. Meanwhile, for the needs of the industry itself has increased.

The price of cement, for example, is from Rp. 400 thousand to Rp. 500 thousand to Rp. 600 thousand. “Other building materials have also experienced an increase in prices, but they are still of reasonable status,” said Lukas.

It is known, President Joko Widodo has officially announced that the price of fuel has increased. The increase in fuel prices will take effect on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 14.30 Western Indonesia Time.

As for the details of the price increase, namely Pertalite from Rp. 7,650 per liter to Rp. 10 thousand per liter. Solar subsidies from Rp 5,150 per liter to Rp 6,800 per liter, while the non-subsidized Pertamax from Rp 12,500 per liter to Rp 14,500 per liter.
