The meeting will be attended by government representatives. One of them is the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian.

Commission II directly conveys the level I discussion to the leadership of the DPR. The commission in charge of domestic government hopes that the leadership of the legislature will immediately schedule the ratification of the Southwest Papua Bill.

“We ask for an immediate agenda (the ratification of the Southwest Papua Bill) at a plenary meeting as soon as possible,” he said.

The Southwest Papua Bill is the new fourth province in Indonesia. Previously, the DPR and the government ratified the rules for the formation of South Papua, Central Papua, and Papua Mountains.

The division of territory in Papua is carried out as a mandate of Law (UU) Number 2 of 2021 concerning Special Autonomy for Papua. The division is mandated to accelerate the welfare of the Papuan people.
