goodmorningpapua.com – Jayapura Regency Government (Pemkab) is currently setting up a cocoa management place or center functioning to produce various chocolate-based products from local farmers.
A Regent of Jayapura Regency, Mathius Awoitauw after visiting the cocoa center in Yahim Village, Sentani Kota District, said that the cocoa center is currently being prepared both in terms of arrangement and management standards.
“This is still in the process so the POM office is also present to ensure that it is feasible, so that in terms of quality and health it can be guaranteed,” said Mathius Awoitauw to reporters, Friday, March 18, 2022.
Mathius ensured that the Department of Industry and Trade (Disperindag) and the Jayapura Department of Plantation and Livestock (Disbunnak) could synergize after preparing the process, so as to encourage cocoa farmers.
“If possible, it will be arranged with the farmers at a good price, because after being brought to the cocoa center it will be an added value for maintenance and labor costs,” he said.
He hopes that the existence of this cocoa center can make it easier for farmers to sell their garden products outside Papua, which has been an obstacle as well as an hurdle to progress.
“So, our farmers have to get a price which is like that, because the thing can spur enthusiasm. I hope that this cocoa center can really have an impact on them,” he hoped.
