Elpius Hugi: a Development of IKN is Real Evidence of Unity in Diversity

goodmorningpapua.com – The unifiying water and land as well as the planting of Matoa Trees to support the construction of the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago in Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, Monday, March 14, 2022, made a deep impression on Papua.

Even the Acting Head of the General Bureau of Protocol for the Papua Province, Elpius Hugi was amazed and touched when he witnessed the ritual of uniting water and land brought from Papua with various other regions in the archipelago.

“I didn’t suspect that we were called in 4th place, usually according to our order, Papua is the last and then West Papua,” said Elpius Hugi when contacted by KabarPapua.co, Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

Elpius views the development of IKN as real evidence that even though they are different, they are still one goal as the motto of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity). This also indicates that President Jokowi is positioning all ethnic groups as equal in the development of IKN.

“It’s an amazing thing and this is what I saw for myself, my eyes and my head. That he (President Jokowi) respects all ethnic groups in Indonesia. He appreciates the differences that exist in Indonesia,” said Elpius.

Elpius explained that land from Papua was brought in using a Noken bag, and the water was stored in a Jiwag or Sempe, a kind of jug which is a container to collect water for the Papuan people.

The material, continued Elpius, is made of pumpkin through a combustion process to remove the contents of the pumpkin so that it is hard, water is a symbol of giving life to every living creature.

According to Elpius, the natural atmosphere of Kalimantan is not much different from Papua, where the water and air still feel cool. “Over there, it is almost the same as in Papua, the weather is also not much different, it is still filled with trees, so it feels cool,” he said.

Elpius hopes that with this unification, the children of the nation must unite to develop their respective regions. “We are grateful to God, which of Mr. Jokowi has realized the development of IKN and he respects all ethnic groups in Indonesia,” he concluded.

Previously, the Papuan Provincial Government had handed over water and land in a procession of land and water unification at the zero point of the nation’s capital city (IKN) Nusantara, East Kalimantan on Monday, March 14, 2022.

The handover of water and land was carried out by the Assistant for General Administration of the Regional Secretariat of Papua, Y. Derek Hagemur, on behalf of the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, who was unable to attend the procession led by President Joko Widodo.
