Economic Inequality Continues to be Reduced to Resolve Crucial Problems in Papua

goodmorningpapua.com – The government continues to strive to reduce economic inequality in Papua as a form of seriousness in resolving security problems in Papua. This effort should be condcuted to improve the quality of life of the community. An intelligence and security observer Stanislaus Riyanta also considers that the inequality problem must be resolved immediately so that the security sector is not affected.

“This must be resolved and the government must pursue so that the number of economic disparities can be suppressed. In parallel, people’s quality of life is improved and security issues are resolved,” Stanislaus, December 18, 2021.

A former special staff for regional autonomy in the Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono era, Velix Wanggai once revealed that inequality and injustice are ammunition to upset security in Papua. Moreover, there are still isolated areas and have not fully benefited from development projects.

“The setting of the issue from Papua that we may see is unique and complex, because we see that there are regional centers that have been isolated and have not been served in the context of development, in areas that are still relatively underdeveloped,” said Velix.

In addition to development, other factors, namely the quality of health services, education and economic empowerment that are far away are also the seeds of problems that have been happening in Papua.

“The underdevelopment intersection has become ammunition for the emergence of centers of resistance movement against the government so that there are reasons for overlapping, disillusionment with development, limited bureaucratic services, limited basic education services, of course there is an ideology that is still attached and the centers of resistance turned out to be concentrated in remote areas, especially Puncak Jaya Regency,” he said.
