During PPKM, BI of Papua Encourages the Use of Digital Money

goodmorningpapua.com – The Representative Office of Bank Indonesia for Papua Province encourages banks to socialize digital transactions to the public during the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM).

A Head of Bank Indonesia of Papua Province Naek Tigor Sinaga believes that digital transactions are very necessary at this time considering that it can prevent the transmission of Covid-19. BI Papua will also adjust to government regulations related to PPKM.

“However, we will continue to adjust to the rules set by the government in relation to PPKM, especially in Papua,” said Naek in Jayapura, Wednesday, August 4, 2021.

BI Papua, said Naek, is ready to deal with the implementation of PPKM considering that this pandemic has been going on for more than a year. “Banking activities remain a priority sector both in Papua in particular and in Jakarta,” he said.

According to Naek, QRIS technology, namely digital money, is the answer in the midst of a pandemic to prevent the transmission of Covid-19.

“We also encourage the activation of ATM services, with a bigger ceiling but still adjusted to the ATM card used,” he explained.

So far, continued Naek, banks do not have special readiness to deal with PPKM. “There are no special issues for facing banks during PPKM, which is the same as the previous year,” said Naek.

Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard or commonly abbreviated as QRIS is the unification of various kinds of QR from various Payment System Service Providers (PJSP) using a QR Code.

QRIS was developed by the payment system industry together with Bank Indonesia so that the transaction process with the QR Code can be easier, faster, and secure. All Payment System Service Providers who will use QR Code Payments must implement QRIS.

Currently, with QRIS, all payment applications from any Operator, both bank and non-bank that are used by the public, can be used in all shops, merchants, stalls, parking lots, tourist tickets, donations (merchants) with the QRIS logo, even though the QRIS provider at merchants is different from the QRIS service provider used by the community.
