The three new provinces are South Papua Province, Central Papua Province, and Central Highlands Papua Province.
The division of territory in Papua is contained in the Draft Law (RUU) proposed by Commission II of the DPR.
The bill was approved in the plenary meeting of decision-making on the results of the harmonization of the bill in the Legislative Body of the DPR.
The expansion of the region in Papua, continued Puan, also aims to improve public services and the welfare of the Papuan people.
He hopes that with the addition of provinces, Papua can be more advanced.
“The bill that regulates the division of 3 new regions is also an effort to raise the dignity of the Papuan people,” he said.
