goodmorningpapua.com – The Director General (Dirjen) of Christian Community Guidance (Binmas) of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) Prof. Thomas Pentury discussed about the implementation of the national program of Kita Cinta Papua (KCP) in public universities.
“The Minister said, don’t let Papuan children only be accepted in Christian religious education institutions, but if possible they can also enter public higher education institutions,” said Prof. Thomas Pentury in Ambon, Friday (4/6/2021) night.
He conveyed it in the focus group discussion regarding the National Selection of New Student Admissions (Selnas PMB) of State Christian Religious Colleges (PTKKN) 2021 which was held in the auditorium of the Ambon State Christian Institute (IAKN).
“One of important programs I think it will raise the name of Christian religious higher education institutions is KCP, the affirmation of education for Papuan children,” he said.
In his opinion, Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas is committed to continue the KCP program. The Minister of Religion directed that the Papuan children are not only accepted in Christian religious education institutions, but also in other public universities.
The guidence is a support for the promotion of the development of the young generation in Papua. The Ministry of Religion through the Directorate General of Christian Binmas has held a meeting with the National Development Planning Agency (Bapenas) and the Ministry of Finance, to discuss KIP-Kuliah scholarships for Papuan children who enter public higher education institutions.
He said that the general education institutions that will be partnered with for the KCP program are the Christian-based public universities, including the Indonesian Christian University (UKI) Jakarta, Petra Christian University and Pelita Harapan University (UPH) Surabaya, Maranatha University Bandung and Satya Wacana Christian University (SWCU) Malang.
For Maluku, this program will be implemented at the Indonesian Christian University of Maluku (UKIM) in Ambon City.
In this regard, the Director of Christian Education at the Ministry of Religion, Pontus Sitorus, has held a meeting with a number of rectors of Christian religious-based public universities for the implementation of KCP.
“Institutional transformation is part of the process, but the point is students, the number of quality students with high diversity,” he said.
The focus discussion group about the Selnas PMB PTKKN 2021 is a continuation of the launch of an online-based new student admission system for seven PTKKN in Indonesia via the “https://selnas.ptkkn@ac.id” site which will be held in February 2021.
In addition to the KCP program, the focus group discussion which was also attended by the Secretary to the Director General (Sesdirjen) Christian Binmas Urbanus Rahangmetan and representatives of seven PTKKN throughout Indonesia also discussed exam questions of Selnas PMB PTKKN 2021.
