The host’s 2-0 victory without replying was created by Ricky Ricardo Cawor’s goals in the 4th minute and 22nd minute. This victory completes the ambition to unite the men’s and women’s soccer championship titles in the XX PON event.
The Chairperson of the All-Indonesian Football Association Provincial Association or PSSI Papua Asprov, Benhur Tomi Mano, praised the women’s and men’s soccer teams who had won titles in XX PON.
“I said you (the Papuan football team) must be great, must become champions and make a history for Papua today, we can see they can become champions,” he said proudly after the match at the Mandala Stadium, Thursday night.
According to Tomi Mano, the women’s and men’s soccer victories were achieved with hard work and prayer support. “They have a heart for how to defend Papua to become a champion, that’s their commitment so that they become champions,” he said.
Tomi Mano revealed that the title of the Papuan men’s football champion at the PON was the third time. The championship title was won at the PON in 1993, followed by 2004 and 2021.
“This is the three stars we achieved, still the bonus will be given by KONI, and specifically from us there is also a bonus,” he said.
Meanwhile, the head coach of Papuan men’s football, Eduard Ivakdalam said that this victory had been achieved with great difficulty with God’s intervention. Moreover, the children under his care only had a day’s break to practice.
“We hard built this team, we difficultly built from zero (0) and it’s all thanks to God’s intervention. What kind of practice can we practice, but if there is no intervention from God, everything will not work out, “said Eduard.
Previously, the Papuan women’s football team won the title in the final against West Java at the Merauke Catalpal Stadium, Monday, October 11, 2021. The title was won thanks to Liza Armanita Madjar’s single goal in the 75th minute.
