goodmorningpapua.com – After 28 days or since December 21, 2021, Jayapura City has become zero of COVID-19. For the first time, another COVID-19 case in Jayapura City was found on January 16, 2022.
The head of the Jayapura City Health Office, doctor Ni Nyoman Sri Antari, explained that patients suffered with positive for COVID-19 were travelers and complained of fever and loss of smell.
“Currently, the patient is self-isolating at home and he happens to be alone at home. Tracing in the presence of this initial case has been carried out and is ongoing.
Antari explained that he had not brought the patient’s test results to the Papua Regional Health Laboratory to see if this was the Omicron variant or not.
Antari said that based on the patient’s symptoms, it was different from the symptoms that had occurred in Omicron patients who experienced body aches and were asymptomatic.
“It seems that this is still a Delta variant, because there is a fever and loss of smell. Hopefully not Omicron. However, we still have to proceed because there is still a COVID-19 pandemic,” said Antari.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 in Jayapura City since 2 years ago in the midst of the pandemic has been 12,979 cases, 12,708 cases recovered, 270 deaths and currently 1 patient is being treated.
